JUST IN TIME for Justin

Donation protected
Meet our brother, Justin Alvear.
His body has been waging war against itself for the better part of his whole life. His story is not for the faint of heart, and it is certainly not easy to read...
Strokes began to brutalize him in 2009, rounds of medication and appointments found no real answers or solutions. He did his best to live an everyday life...Marrying his wife, Ashley, adding two beautiful little girls (Scarlett & Ophelia) to the world, and managing a career through setbacks. In 2014 devastated by a heart attack, we learned his kidneys were rapidly declining. By 2016 his body could no longer protect itself with any efficiency. Hospitalized with pneumonia and given Zofran to fight the infection he was ambushed once again by an allergic reaction to the medication. Leading to the scariest moment thus far, Justin coded on the table.
2019 was the catastrophic game-changer; his kidneys could no longer do their job. Now firmly in the grips of end-stage renal failure, a chest catheter surgery was immediate, and he began emergency dialysis. He would remain on dialysis, gallons of fluids drained and pumped into his body during 8-hour intervals every single day for the rest of his life ...THE ONLY SOLUTION: a kidney transplant.

Catheter tubes hiked up; Justin was once again ready to fight for his life. The journey of all journeys began, endured by so many before him, FINDING A KIDNEY!!!

During these THREE TRAUMATIC YEARS, Justin has had to work harder than ever to remain stable enough for surgery. He has had to learn and decode all of the requirements, then meet them to GET ON THE LIST! Tirelessly campaign among family, friends and strangers for himself in hopes of FINDING A MATCH. And what we have all witnessed as his most challenging requirement to date, TO LIVE each day filled with the purest mix of fear and hope, for all our prayers to be answered.

On January 10th, ADAM RUCKER BECAME THAT ANSWER!!!!!!
A miracle of selflessness, an act of kindness beyond all measure, the gift of life. Reading Justin's story, Adam was pulled to become his donor and by the grace of God... HE WAS A MATCH!!

So here he sits after years of heartache and heartbreak. Countless medical appointments, emergencies and one devastating hurdle after the next... THE FINISH LINE IS IN SIGHT! 3.28.2022

AND--------------WE HUMBLY ASK THAT YOU HELP HIM CROSS IT.

The recovery process for both giving and receiving a kidney WILL NOT BE EASY. Travel requirements have Justin relocating closer to the hospital for at least one month. Round-the-clock aftercare during a 3-month post-opt timeline, multiple trips a week for various appointments up to 6 months after surgery, medical supplies, daily necessities and managing the cost of current bills/rent/childcare all while being unable to work.

WE HOPE TO EASE ONE BURDEN FOR JUSTIN: RAISE ENOUGH TO ALLOW HIM TO FOCUS 100% ON HIS RECOVERY!
