Grandson| Joshua's medical expenses
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Marian Torquido and I am raising money to support my grandson, Joshua, while he undergoes medical treatment for a T6 spinal cord and neck injury .
I was born and raised in the Philippines (Cotabato City) along with 6 other siblings. In 1991, I was given the opportunity to come live in the United States and have resided here since.
I was blessed to have 6 children of my own, some of which, still live in the Philippines. Over the years, I have worked tirelessly to provide support to my children and their families. Although it may become difficult at times, I always do my best so they may have food to eat and a roof over their heads.
However, a recent accident involving my eldest daughter's son has significantly changed things. Joshua and his cousin were on their way home when he lost control of his motorbike while going down a steep hill. To avoid a collision with a vehicle in front of him, he squeezed the handbrake as hard as he could and swerved the bike out of the way. The force of the bike was too great and it launched Joshua forward. He tumbled to the ground, over the sidewalk, and into a gutter.
His cousin pulled him out and it was then when Joshua realized that he couldn't feel nor move his legs. A passing jeepney noticed the accident and helped get Joshua to the hospital. He stayed at the Cotabato General Hospital for about 7 days without much doctor involvement, then transferred via amulance to the Southern Philippine Medical Center in Davao City to see a specialist. He has now been in Davao City for 2 days.
Joshua is currently now laying in a hospital bed with a type of Halo brace attached to his head. The Halo brace is then attached to a 10 pound weight which hangs off of the edge of the bed. This is an attempt to correct his spine and reduce the swelling while they locate suitable metal to implant into his neck. The doctors have also inserted a tube through his nose in order to feed him liquefied food.
Without this metal implant, Joshua will no longer have the ability to sit upright as his head just droops down over his chest.
The amount of money I am asking for will help cover his medical bills, treatment, hospital stay, medication and equipment such as a wheelchair. The money will also be used to support his family of 5 other siblings in this deperate time of need.
Any amount of donation will be extremely helpful. I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to read this and if you are unable to donate my only request is that you pray for Joshua to have a successful recovery.
Thank you and God bless.
