Help Bri Bounce Back! Medical Fund

Donation protected

Hey friends and family!
A lot of you reading this know my sister Bri, and are aware of her time spent in the hospital this year. Though many people have reached out in concern and shown an overhelming amount of support, Bri has worked hard to keep the details of her condition quiet. In light of the severity and rapid progression of everything she is suffering from, I'm speaking out to ask for even more support.
Bri was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease when she was 13. After collapsing in an airport, she could no longer hide her symptoms. She had dropped weight, dealt with constant stomach cramping, and could hardly get out of bed to do everyday activities. After many tests she was eventually diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, similar to Chron's Disease. The solution was to pump her full of steroids to gain strength back, and to keep her medicated for life in hopes of avoiding relapse.
U.C. and Chron's affect nearly 1.4 million Americans, however not all patients experience intense recurring flare ups. My sister has not been so lucky. Over the past few years she has stopped responding to several methds of treatment and her U.C. symptoms have only grown worse. So far in 2016, Bri has spent a total of two months living in a hospital room and has been out of work for over six months of the year. Most recently, she tried two different types of self injections in attempt to reverse these symptoms, however after only a few weeks she stopped responding to both. As a last resort, surgery has been discussed in depth, which would mean another year out of work for Bri while her body worked to recover and repair itself. Though surgery is not off the table, Bri is still fighting to treat her U.C. with more serious medication before settling for a procedure. Currently she is undergoing Remicade infusions, which are similar to chemotherapy treatments. We are hopeful surgery will not be necesary.
Severe stress plays a huge role in triggering symptoms of a relapse of this disease. With thousands of dollars in medical bills piling up, I am reaching out to anyone reading this. My sisters immune system is attacking her own body, and in order to allow it to repair itelf and respond to treatment we need to eliminate as much stress as possible. The hospital stays plus her treatment are outrageously expensive, even with insurance. In addition to her bills she physically cannot work. We are so grateful for the love and support that have come her way, and are asking for donations towards her hospital bills. Anything and everything is so incredibly appreciated!! Every little bit helps. Thank you so much for listening, it means the world to us:)
