Carla's Breast Cancer Healing Journey

Hi Everyone,

It's me, Rachael. I'm a mother, a sister, and a daughter. I'm one of five siblings.

I'm sharing this gofundme because my mom, Carla, has found herself on a healing journey with cancer.

My mom has spent the last 34 years of her life raising me, my brothers, and sister, and caring for our big, busy, messy family. And while she sometimes drives us all a little bit crazy, she has the sweetest spirit, loves us all unconditionally, shares what she has, and does whatever she can for us....and we want her around a lot longer.

In August of 2021 my mom was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which unfortunately is one of the most difficult to treat forms of breast cancer. She had a successful surgery to remove the tumor and thought she was cancer free, at least long enough to assess all her options.

A few months later she felt some tenderness under her arm and learned that the cancer had metastasized to her lymph nodes and knew she needed to do something pretty quickly to help her body and spirit heal.

My mom has always lived a holistic lifestyle and she really believes in the power of optimism, healing, and living life fully. Her attitude is that through this experience she's learning more about life, and not that she's just suffering through it.

And while having cancer seems hard and scary, she's not letting it take over the joy life has to offer, which is why we're all looking forward to finding the healing that comes through.

Given the few options and ultra toxic side effects of conventional full-dose chemotherapy for TNBC, she's researching ALL her healing options. On the medical side, right now she's currently receiving Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT), a form of low-dose chemotherapy at an integrative oncology clinic that provides holistic treatments.

Frustratingly, these "alternative and complementary" treatments are not nearby, nor are they covered by insurance. This includes the administration of IPT.....and chemo drugs are crazy expensive!

IPT uses the same chemo drugs given in a standard oncology clinic, they're just administered in a different way to combat the severe side effects....and so far it's working!!!

The holistic approach is to give cancer killing IPT medications while simultaneously building the immune system, instead of damaging it beyond repair.

With the clinic not able to accept insurance, the medical bills are incredibly steep, leading to this GoFundMe initiative. We (her family) ask you to consider donating to my mom, Carla, to help her, and all of us, along this journey.

All donated funds will go towards Carla's treatment expenses, which include medications, healing therapies, food, travel and lodging.
