RCGS Student Leadership Fund

Hi! We are the Student Leadership Council at Rock Creek Grant School. Comprised of 4th-8th graders at RCGS on the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Reservation. Our Team is responsible for the mentorship program at RCGS, in which we partner with younger students at the school and provide guidance in subjects such as math, science, reading, and project based learning. In addition to our mentor program we also are responsible for organizing community events, fundraisers, and school wide improvement activities. The student leadership team is in partnership with College for Every Student , a non profit organization, that brings college awareness to low income schools. Through this partnership we have a sister school in Hawaii, Dole Middle School. Over the last two years we have video chatted, taught each other words in our native languages, gone on virtual tours of our schools and written letters back and forth. It is our hope to visit them in early spring of 2017. During this visit we will experience a day in the life of our peers at Dole Middle School, visit and establish relationships with colleges in Hawaii, and participate in a cultural exchange. We have established this GoFundMe me to cover a portion of the expenses required to send 3-4 of us on this trip. In addition to this GoFundMe we are also holding several local fundraising events and participating in a work exchange with our local community. Thank you for your support!
