Be cool, bring thousands to fight climate change!

Can you support a campaign bringing together thousands of young people, their families, and communities in a musical call to climate action?

The "Be Cool!" campaign is calling for the participation of 100,000 kids to join in singing the chorus of a new climate song titled I Wanna Be Cool. At the same time, they will be learning about climate change and mobilizing action among their peers, their families, their communities, and the song’s audiences.

In June 2022, Music Declares Emergency US and The ClimateMusic Project/Social Good Fund teamed up for a songwriters' workshop. They invited leading climate scientists and a group of established songwriters to work together to create songs that inspire people to take action against climate change. One song - I Wanna Be Cool - was written by award-winning songwriters Will Kimbrough & Brant Miller. The song has a powerful line that says "Can’t you hear your kids startin’ to shout?" For every young person who lends their voice in the chorus, we will suggest specific calls to action, in collaboration with grassroots climate organizations, to encourage more people to join the movement.

Action pledges include:

(1) accelerate electrification in homes and schools

(2) registering young people to vote ; and

(3) providing a climate education curriculum

The campaign has also partnered with prominent, Grammy-nominated guest vocalists to lend their voices to the song. We will use the summer to reach out to groups, build partnerships and then recruit schools in the fall. We need funding for two videos: (1) an introductory overview of the project; and (2) a really amazing music video. We also are paying a sound engineer to mix the song.
