Hello. My name is Erica and I’m setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my friend Tanesha Badger in regards to her dad David Lewis. Mr. Lewis suffered a massive stroke on February 22nd and was found unresponsive on his bedroom floor. Once taken to the hospital, a series of tests were conducted and it was found that Mr. Lewis had indeed suffered a stroke, has a blood clot on his brain and had to be placed on a breathing machine due to not fully being able to breathe on his own. After further tests including multiple cat scans etc, unfortunately the prognosis is not good and his condition has worsened. The doctors have been able to determine that Mr. Lewis is paralyzed from the neck down and will never have the quality of life as he did before, meaning he will probably never walk or talk again and will never be able to fully breathe on his own. The doctors advised that Tanesha will need to now make a tough decision regarding how long to keep him on the machine. She entered her dad’s hospital room and asked him to blink once for NO and blink twice for YES. She proceeded to ask him if he wanted to continue fighting. He blinked once for NO. She then asked if he was tired of fighting. He blinked twice for YES. A psychiatrist deemed him to be mentally capable of making his own health decisions although he cannot move or talk. This means legally Tanesha can’t keep him on Life Support if he is indicating he no longer wants to be on it. To make matters worse and while trying to PLAN for the worse, Tanesha found out that her dads life insurance policy has lapsed leaving him with no insurance at all. This is the reason for creating this go fund me. Tanesha knows the inevitable is about to happen and she is trying to prepare herself for one of the worst decisions she’s ever had to make. And when that decision is final she wants to have a proper burial for her dad. Tanesha is Mr. Lewis’ ONLY child. She is so devastated right now and extremely stressed because she does not know how to do any of this. Her dad is her WORLD and they are very close so she is not doing well right now. Please help in any way that you can. And if it can’t be monetary, we completely understand but please pray for her and Mr. Lewis during this extremely difficult time. Thank you!
