Help Lou Beat Cancer

My name is Enrico Sanchez and I am fundraising for my mom, Lou, who is battling multiple myeloma. It is a rare, incurable form of blood cancer that affects her body’s ability to produce healthy blood cells and lowers her immune system. We are asking for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.

Towards the end of last year, she began experiencing unexplained body weakness, pain, and fatigue. During her annual medical check up, some abnormalities were found which led to referrals to various specialists. After extensive lab work ups and testing, she was officially diagnosed with multiple myeloma in November 2023.

She began receiving chemotherapy treatment in December 2023 while simultaneously working as a home health physical therapist, but adverse reactions led to multiple hospitalizations affecting her ability to continue working. She has received 16 rounds of chemotherapy thus far, with an end to phase 1 treatment on April 19. The next phase will begin in June with a bone marrow transplant and continued chemotherapy.

While the initial portion of her plan of care has been difficult, her medical team has prefaced that the bone marrow transplant and recovery will be much longer and more intense. It will require her to be hospitalized for at least 3 weeks, with months of recovery thereafter to fully achieve remission. As she awaits this next phase, her doctor has encouraged her to live her life to the fullest, as much as her body will allow, leading up to her transplant. With his clearance, she is looking forward to going on a trip with her friends during this break from treatments.

As we have been mentally, physically, and financially preparing for this next phase of her treatment, she recently was a victim of an elaborate online scam that has depleted her savings that were reserved for these medical expenses. In her vulnerable state, she was preyed upon and taken advantage of by conniving scammers that have now caused a major set back to her, not only financially, but emotionally as well.

This is a battle that we never expected to face, but here we are, fighting with all our strength and faith. As she confronts this daunting challenge, I want to do everything in my power to support her. As much as I wish I could shoulder this burden alone, I am humbly asking for your help. Your donations will go directly towards covering her medical bills, treatments, and any additional support she may need during her fight.
