Restoration of Flood-Damaged Church

Tax deductible

In June 2016, the Darlington Church of God in Christ celebrated 96 years of existence in the small town of Greensburg, Louisiana. It is a church with a rich history of having ministered to countless generations, crossing educational and socio-economic lines, yet always preaching and teaching the strength of God's unconditional love.

On the morning of Friday, August 12, 2016, this pillar in the community suffered a staggering blow. The flood waters of what has come to be known in South Louisiana as the "Great Flood of 2016" breached its doors and rushed into this holy haven. The church had stood for years as a spiritual refuge from the storms of life, but it was the church edifice itself that was left battered by the 4 feet of water that settled within.

The doors of the church, which had symbolically always been open, are unfortunately closed today.  The building has been gutted; the pews are gone, piano destroyed, and even the pictures removed from the walls. Yet, the congregation continues to pray. Not only do we pray, we believe. We believe that God will use this experience to bring us a new beginning. As the Pastor of the church, I am persuaded that God will do no less than work a miracle on our behalf.

Your donation can help the church to purchase the items necessary to not just be restored, but to be rejuvenated. Your donation can assist in ensuring that the ministry of the Darlington Church of God in Christ does not end at 96 years, but that it continues to bring hope to hurting people for many years to come.
