We are a group of Lower Cape May Regional High School Alumni that have a friend in need. We are friends with Lisa and are raising money to help make her life easier.  Lisa is now a single parent. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated!!! Here is her story....

I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer a few weeks before my 40th birthday in 2012. At the time my girls were 13 and 4. I had a hysterectomy and after healing from that went on to doing chemotherapy and radiation. The next scan showed something small on my liver but it was too small to identify it as anything. Back to work I go. Only to have a scan in June show that the cancer spread to my liver. My doctor had said to go home and enjoy the rest of the summer with your family that was not acceptable to me. Off to a second opinion 1 1/2 hrs away. He could do the surgery but there was only a 33% survival rate. So I had the surgery and came out fine. The cancer then hit the outside of my colon and my abdomen. Off to check about clinical trials. Dana Farber in Boston said I was perfect for it but trial was opening for a few more weeks and he wanted me to do chemo again until it opened up. I handled chemo very well the first time so it was no big deal. After 2 treatments I got another scan and WOW, the abdominal tumors were no longer there and the one on the colon had shrunk to less than half the size I started with. So I finished up treatment and was on my way, the next scan was clean. YAY! By that time it was November 2014. In January I started bleeding and I ended up doing some radiation for a small tumor. June came around for another scan and 3 days after that scan I ended up in the ER with a fever and severe abdominal pains. Another scan, ER doc told me the cancer came back and that I had an abscess that needed draining, so they shipped me to another hospital 1 1/2 hrs away, not a fun ambulance ride let me tell ya. We took care of the draining my putting in a tube for 3 weeks. after doing a scan to see where to put it in. The day after the tube came out, I was in the ER again with the same issues, only to find out by the scan they did that the cancer spread even more. So from the last scan on June 29 to the scan on July 25 the cancer had spread significantly and a mass had gotten larger. Surgery was way to risky. I would rather have more quality time than be out of commission for 2 1/2 months healing and not have much time after anyway. I was not given a timeline, quite frankly I do not want one. That would just add to the stress. I am spending time with my girls , now 16 and 7 and we are having what fun we can on my good days. Thank you for checking out my story!!
