Monte del Sol Athletics
Donation protected
Monte del Sol Charter School originated as a small school alternative to a large public school in Santa Fe . Needless to say, the funding for a charter school is less than desirable. This year, due to a budget shortfall, the athletic department's budget has been literally cut in half. What has been affected? Transportation, payment of officials, facility rentals (we don't have a gym or playing fields), some sports teams ... everything!
Any money raised through Go Fund Me will be placed in an athletic coordinator's fund for all of the above and more, including meals for students on the road (at least half of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches), uniforms, and equipment.
We need these funds now! Our teams are already practicing, playing, and traveling.
This campaign means a lot to me, because, as we know, high school athletes rarely become professional athletes. But statistics will show that most of them (of both genders), become successful in many walks of life, because they learned about commitment, team work, perseverance, work ethic, and adversity thorough their involvement in athletics.
I was lucky. I can point to coaches who guided me, a somewhat shy and lost soul in high school, through many practices and games via hard work and sweat. I never became a pro athlete, but their mentoring led me to a career in education as a coach and teacher of English. The last thing I would have become was a teacher, and I might not have survived the rigor of graduate school, had it not been for my high school coaches. My story is not unique. There are tens of thousands of similar stories.
I want the student-athletes at our school to learn the same: how to commit, work hard, persevere.
Please help us keep the athletic program alive at Monte del Sol Charter School.
Thank you ... your contribution will be greatly
appreciated.
