On March 1st of this year my dad received the news no person wants to hear, "you have cancer" When he broke the news to us we just sat and cried together. Of course scared doesn't begin to describe it. Then and there my dad vowed to fight and do whatever was needed to try and fight this horrible disease. At his first appointment we learned the harsh reality and exactly the type
Of cancer he had. "Colon cancer that metastasized into his lungs and liver" what does this mean? Not only did he have a very large tumor in is colon causing extreme pain that was inoperable, but it had spread and his lungs and liver are covered with cancer as well. "The cancer is in fact terminal."After a day that was a blur and an overload of information, my dad without a shadow of a doubt decided he would flight this stuff with everything he had to give him as much time as possible. He has went through 13 treatments of Chemotherapy each one with worse side effects than the other. His fight and determination has never diminished. He is a true fighter in everyone's eyes. His two Granddaughters light up his life and if he needs a little pick me up they are there with a hug and a smile. This week we learned that the chemo therapy is no longer keeping the cancer from growing and the tumors in the liver have grown significantly. Unfortunately he had to make the the decision to go home where he is most comfortable and have a hospice team come to help care for him. Since being diagnosed my dad has not been able to work and as you all know if know him he is the HARDEST worker, the most selfless, drop anything at anytime to help anyone type of guy. As a family we would like to help lift the burden of medical expenses so that he can have some time to not worry about things out of his control and use his time and energy being with those close to him. Please continue to send love and prayers our way. Even the slightest donation or even a Share would help.
