Update-
her husband, Lawrence, passed away early morning of January 1. Please pray for this family and help them in their time of grief-
I am writing this on behalf of one of the most deserving people I know, and would love if you would take the time to consider joining me in supporting her.
Several years ago, Katrina entered our lives as a huge answer to prayer and began working as a caregiver for my mom. She radiates such joy and brightens not only my mom’s life but also mine. She is dependable, trustworthy, and has lifted so much weight from my shoulders. However, I recently learned that she is also carrying quite a few heavy burdens herself, and I am writing this in hopes that we can help to lift some of those burdens.
Katrina has a husband and 2 young adult sons.
Her husband has leukemia, which has caused him to be out of work the last few years, and has stopped responding to treatment. He has been in the hospital since before Thanksgiving. Kat spends as much time as she can assisting with her husband’s care and being at his bedside. He is now actively dying, and they cannot give him the life-sustaining medication he needs any longer.
One of her sons is disabled and unable to work.
Her other son has been working and was enrolled in college and doing very well until this fall, when he was a passenger in a serious car accident. Months later, he is still in rehab and has had to relearn how to eat, drink, walk, and more. Kat has had to support and provide care for his medical needs as well.
Additionally, Kat has her own health concerns. She was scheduled for a major surgery this summer that would require an 8-week recovery until her family’s needs caused her own plans to be put on the back burner.
Kat is a workhorse! And does it with precision, joy, and kindness. Throughout all of this, she has faithfully cared for my mother; however, her financial needs are piling high.
In addition to the medical bills from every direction, her car recently died, and she was forced to move. And now, on top of all of that, and as the sole income in her household, she is needing to take off work to be at her husband’s bedside.
In summary, Kat and her family are in dire need. They need help paying for medical bills, medicine, rent, food, and now it appears a funeral. While her financial status is certainly not the most important thing right now, it is my hope that we can bless a family—a woman, mother, and wife, who has a heart of gold—by taking some of this burden from her.
If you could consider joining us in helping to lift this strain, I, on behalf of them, would greatly appreciate it.
