Please Help Lacey with Emergency Sepsis Surgery
Donation protected
Lacey Duncan is my cousin. She is such a caring and generous soul. She works so hard with the management team and as a coach for The Special Olympics Area 19. She looks forward to their Christmas party every year. Unfortunately, she was able to attend this year due to being hospitalized.
Lacey went to the hospital for abdominal pain and was told she had gall stones and to follow up with a general surgeon. Less than a week later she was admitted to the hospital for an infection from her gall bladder. Her infection went septic and damaged her heart and kidneys due to septic shock. They could not do surgery until her vitals were under control. The next day her gall bladder was removed. Her gall bladder was gangrenous, leaking, and came out in pieces. This is what caused the sepsis.
She was closely monitored while being treated for sepsis and unduly discharged back home while still fighting infection.
Less than 12 hours later she was taken back to the ER and re-admitted for pneumonia. After another round of intravenous antibiotics she was discharged 2 days later.
She is now at home healing but will be off work for several weeks without pay, pending cardiologist and kidney doctor appointments.
Her husband has been off work for the last week and will be off for another week or more depending on her recovery. Her husband has used up his PTO and will be off without pay starting this week.
Please donate if you can to help relieve some of this unforeseen medical burden for Lacey and her family. Every bit counts!
