Hi, my name is Joe and I'm fundraising for my friend Thomas, and his beautiful family. Thomas (Tomasz) originally from Gorlice in Poland, has made his life in Ireland for the past 15 years.
Thomas (38) visited the doctor with a sore throat last week. The doctor advised he was merely suffering from a viral infection, and he was sent home without medication. That night Thomas became violently ill and was shifted by ambulance to CUH. He was quickly diagnosed with severe sepsis and in an effort to save his life he was put into an induced coma. The doctors at CUH indicated they hadn't seen a worse case of sepsis in 20 years, giving Thomas only a 50/50 chance of survival. 10 days on and Thomas remains in the Intensive Care Unit at CUH.
Thomas had recently left a long-term position with SuperValu in Hollyhill to bravely start-up his own business delivering bread, to secure a better future for his family. However, any recovery Thomas now makes will likely be very slow and uncertain. He will unlikely be in a position to work for the foreseeable.
Thomas and his wife Gosia have 2 beautiful boys, Tommy (4) and David (9). Tommy attends Ardmore Community Pre-School and David attends Star of the Sea Primary School in Passage West. David is an active member of the Passage West GAA club, Soccer club and Karate club.
The boys need minding, now more than ever, the mortgage on the family home must be paid, and Thomas may well need prolonged medical support. They have always worked very hard and earned everything they have independently. The family now needs support, but they are too proud to ask for it.
So my ask is simple. Please give what you can, to build a fund, to help this beautiful family get though this terrible nightmare. Any one of us could find ourselves in a similar situation in the morning. They have more than enough worry at this time, and certainly don't need to be worrying about where the money is going to come from on top of it all. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity and support. Please share/spread the word.
