Uplifting Through Reading
Tax deductible
Established in 2014, the Kids’ Educational Engagement Project (KEEP) has been promoting a culture of reading among Liberian students by establishing safe, conducive, welcoming reading spaces.
Liberia currently has very few public libraries.
The country has 2,612 public schools with only 306 of those actually having a library. This means that 2,306 do not.
It also means that thousands of school-going children do not have access to a basic educational necessity.
Since 2016, KEEP has established 15 Reading Rooms in 7 counties. This year, among other things, we have provided computer literacy training to 60 students in rural Liberia; distributed and donated over 30,000 reading books, and consistently conducted over 20 weeks of reading-hour sessions with young learners at the Reading Rooms where we have a steady flow of diverse volunteers.
We are accredited by both the United Nations ECOSOC, African Union ECOSOCC and have a 501(c3) status in the USA.
For 2020, we are targeting opening 5 Reading Rooms in Maryland, Bomi, and Nimba Counties. On average, each room costs U$6,500 to establish (excluding the cost of books).
We are reaching out to you to help us raise funds to reach our goal. Help us, help our children learn to read.
A $15 contribution enables us purchase a small chair (we need 225 pieces)
A $20 contribution enables us purchase a large chair (we need 100 pieces)
A $40 contribution enables us purchase a small table ( we need 40 pieces)
A $75 contribution enables us purchase a large table (we need 15 pieces)
