Spencer's Fight

If you know the Farley family you already know how generous, giving and selfless they are. They’d be the first to help out and would never hesitate to give you their last dollar.

Spencer is the most wonderful 12 year old that you will ever encounter. This is the kid that comes to visit and ends up cooking the bbq, mixing the perfect cordial, fixing a broken drawer or cutting the grass as he just wants to be helpful and make life easier for everyone around him. He is the King of the Kids and adored by all.

Spencer was living an ordinary life of going to school, playing soccer and riding his bike. A knee injury had him go to the physio for treatment. She sent him for an mri and next thing his parents are getting delivered the worst news.

Their beautiful boy has cancer. He has a tumour in his left femur and needs urgent care. Off they rush to Westmead Children’s where they will remain for quite some time.

This week has been a week of scans, tests, biopsies. Not only has Spencer’s world been flipped upside down but his entire family is absolutely devastated. Unfortunately, the bad news just keeps coming. They have now found a mass on his pelvis and lesions on his lung and spine.

Oncologists are still trying to work out what is the primary cancer and what the treatment plan will be. Either way it is not good news and will be a long journey.

Lou has indefinitely called in sick and at this stage Rob will remain working as bills and expenses need to be paid. With the huge cost of living we know that the Farley’s need our support. We’d love to raise enough money to get Rob some time off work to be with his boy, to help with bills and expenses that will continue to pile up, to help modify the bathroom and bedroom at their family house so that hopefully Spencer can return home and continue treatment there (down the track).

Spencer and the family have a very long journey ahead of them. Please help if you can. You know they’d be the first to help anyone else in need.
