Update as of 1/15/2017:
Jack and I thank each of you for your generous donations, prayers, and well wishes through this difficult time. Your support has been such a blessing to us! Thank you so much! I also want to thank Bev & Mike Shafer for their generosity in letting me stay in their vacation home here in Portland making it possible for me to stay with Jack throughout this challenge. A special thank you to our daughter Jaclyn and husband Camren for taking such good care of the ranch and our home. I also need to recognize the compassion and understanding by my supervisors and co-workers at the USDA Farm Service Agency with leave time from my job afforded to me so far. I am so blessed by my sisters and brothers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that have welcomed me here in Portland. Without ALL of you, Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ I don't know how we could do this! Jack has been down graded from critical to stable, but digestive issues remain to be resolved from the huge perforated ulcer that required two endoscopic procedures
three abdominal surgeries, and facing more procedures to come. He still cannot have any food and only sips of water, and is on IV everything to sustain him. On December 30th he was transferred to a specialty hospital as he doesn't need the acute care provided by OHSU, but far from being able to go to even a skilled nursing facility or home. He has lost a tremendous amount of weight and is very weak. He must remain in Portland under the care of his OHSU surgical team. Cards and well wishes are appreciated to help cheer him up and can be sent to Jack Pimentel, Room 101, Vibra Specialty Hospital of Portland, 10300 NE Hancock Street, Portland OR 97220.
Thank you, Carolyn Pimentel
As many of you may or not know, my father Jack Pimentel, is currently trying to survive multiple very serious and life threatening health issues and is currently in critical condition at the OHSU hospital in Portland Oregon. I am setting this account up on behalf of both my parents, Jack and Carolyn Pimentel, to help with the mounting medical expenses that are building by the hour, travel costs, multiple emergency life flights and ambulance transports, nursing care facility's, and anything else they may need currently and may need in the immediate future. My father Jack has had multiple health complications for the past 30 days, over 25+ blood transfusions, massive internal bleeding, heart complications, organ infections and complications, and is currently in a life threatening situation with my mother Carolyn by his side. They have health insurance but I'm afraid it possibly won't cover all that they are enduring, on top of weeks of missed work at my mothers full time job. They have a very long and bumpy road ahead and I am asking from the bottom of my heart for any help that anyone can give. Whether it be thoughts & prayers, a friendly call with support, or a donation of any kind. Anything will help. Thank you for your time and your generosity. Jaclyn Boyce
Update as of 11/13/16:
My father Jack is still struggling and fighting to survive in Portland Oregon. He has undergone multiple high risk and life threatening surgeries in the past week and will be undergoing another one tomorrow morning. He continues to bleed internally and is currently being kept heavily sedated and on a breathing ventilator so that his body can attempt to heal and get stronger in a resting manner. This won't be the last of his surgeries, he still has a very long way to go to recovery. My mother Carolyn is still by his side daily and is staying strong as ever. My brother Jess was able to visit as well. I want to personally give Thanks to everyone for you love and support and kindness in our trying time. I'll post more updates as things progress. Thank you again, Jaclyn
Update: 12/5/16: My father continues hospitalization at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland OR where he has received excellent care. He has recently undergone more high risk surgeries and angio procedure with encouraging prognosis. He was recently moved out of ICU, finally! He is tough, but facing weeks of recovery and rehabilitation in Portland. Carolyn is still able to be by his side and they are both humbled and grateful by the generosity of coworkers, friends, and kindness of strangers. Cards & well wishes can be addressed to Jack Pimentel, Patient
