COVID19 Refugee Relief Kits - Jerash, Jordan

Donation protected
As the world is working together to battle and flatten the curve of COVID19, Refugees living in Jerash are struggling to provide supplies to there families. Jordan has recently entered an indefinite curfew introduced on March 21st that bans people from leaving their homes even to purchase food unless those that obtain permits. With these rules enforced most refugees working are forced to stay at home, with many not able to secure food and sanitation supplies for their families.  Sitti and KUVRD’s goal is to be able to provide food and sanitation supplies for one month to families.

Together, our target is to raise 10,000 CAD to support 100 families by April 10th, 2020. This will allow us to distribute 100 relief kits - food and sanitation supplies for a month.

Each family will receive:

Food supplies + Sanitary Products (Detergent, Sitti Soap Bars, Disinfectants, Bleach) +  Fresh bread will be delivered every 2 days for the month.

About Jerash Refugee Camp:

Jerash Refugee Camp is the poorest of the Jordanian refugee camps for Palestinians, with over half of the population living below the national poverty line, 88% without any health insurance, and 97% without a social security number.

Jerash camp was set up as an "emergency" camp in 1968 for 11,500 Palestine refugees and displaced persons who left the Gaza Strip as a result of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. It is known locally as Gaza camp.

The camp covers an area of 0.75 square kilometres and is situated 5km from the famous Roman ruins of Jerash. After 1967 UNRWA quickly set up facilities for food aid, sanitation, health services and education.
