Transportation for Tawoos
Donation protected
Thank you everyone who has donated!!! Just to let you know who I am (and because GoFundMe just told me they require this introduction), I am Jen Tyler and Tawoos has been living with me since his arrival in US. We will be using all of your generous donations to create a fund for Tawoos' wheelchair and other transportation costs. This fund will be set up through Lutheran Social Services, the organization who is assisting his transition to the US. -"Any surplus funds will be used for taxi/metro rides to the market, doctor's appointments, and job interviews. Getting around has been tough for him, and your kindness gives him real freedom. Thanks again!

This is Tawoos. He is a refugee from Kabul, Afghanistan, and he arrived on our shores in October. He lost his legs in a land mine explosion, but that didn't stop him from working for USAID in Afghanistan. But because of this work, he can no longer stay safely in his homeland. He is currently acclimating to his new home in VA with the assistance of Lutheran Social Services, and is in the process of looking for employment. But his first months here will be filled with paperwork and establishing work authorization. Tawoos is currently in need of an electric wheelchair so he can get to the metro. He has a manual wheelchair but because his arm is also slightly injured and because the metro is a mile away from his current living situation, an electric wheelchair would greatly assist him,. A new electric wheelchair costs $1500, and we are hoping to raise the money to help him purchase one. Can you help?
