Alex Caporale Eagle Scout Project

My name is Alex Caporale.  I am 16 years old, and I am a Life Scout from Troop 888 in Smithtown New York.  I am trying to complete my Eagle rank.  In order to do so, I need to do a community service project.  I chose to do a project close to home, that affects my school, my friends, and my community.  The project will be a raised vegetable garden made from a previously overgrown, and unattractive plant bed in the front of my high school.  It will be of use to the Special Education Life Skills program .  They will learn how to maintain the garden, grow plants, and utilize the vegetables grown in cooking tasty recipies.
The money raised from this account will be used for the lumber, garden soil, gravel, weed block fabric, screws, and possibly some plants for the Fall.  If there is money left over I will donate it to the program to maintain the garden for the following year.
My parents and I have prepared a vegetable garden every year.
since I was a baby.  I have many fond memories of eating green beans, and Cherry tomatoes straight from the garden .  I cant wait to share this with students at my school!
