3 Families: Texas After the Storm-The Daily-3.1.21

I listened to  The New York Time's "The Daily" this morning (Mar 1, 2021 listen to it HERE ) and my heart broke for what these strong women have gone through. Jack Healy interviewed Tumaini Criss, Iris Cantu and Michelle Thompson about how, "Their lives have been upended. The storm left their homes barely habitable, with collapsed ceilings and destroyed belongings, and disrupted their children’s learning.
Iris has no other option but to try and keep living in the half of her house that hasn't had the ceiling fall in -- all while mold continues to grow across her ceiling. She has a 3-year old daughter with asthma and is understandably worried about her health but has nowhere else to go.
Tumaini's entire apartment was completely destroyed by water after their pipes burst and has been forced to sleep with her 3 young, sweet boys in a bus that the city has brought in for those in need of a warm place to sleep (since the power grid is still unstable).

Suzanne (pictured above with her children) saw her house also totally destroyed, so she and her 3 children have to stay with her mother in her small apartment. Suzanne's daughter's laptop was destroyed, so now she doesn't have a way to attend virtual classes.

People have been asking how they can help these women so I'd like to do everything I can to facilitate that help. I have connected with Tumaini, Iris and Suzanne (with the help of Jack Healy, the NYT reporter on the story) and received their consent.
