3 kids, 2 cancers, 1 hockey dream!

Our family, albeit flush with love, has had a rough go of it these recent years. My health issues have caused a heavy burden on our family’s financial situation. Back-to-back cancers have sent us down a spiral that is difficult to climb out of. As I lay here, recovering from my most recent surgery, I am looking ahead to Fall and must humbly accept that we need to reach out and depend on the kindness of others to help our kids stay on the path to reach their dreams.

Our son, Arlo, has an opportunity to play for a great competitive hockey club, including a tournament in hockey Mecca: Ottawa, Canada! But, alas this comes with a hefty price tag and we are going to need help keeping him on the path to his goal of playing Division I college hockey! And possibly beyond, should the hockey stars align! ;)

Hockey is the only sport that Arlo plays because it is his passion, and he is always practicing and trying to improve. I have no doubt that this is an opportunity for him to excel at what he loves! I don't want him to miss an opportunity to chase his dreams because life had different plans for me.

I am happy to report that, although still under frequent surveillance, I am doing better health-wise! I will resume Nursing School this Fall, my goal since first getting diagnosed. So while Stage 3 breast cancer followed by Stage 2 colon cancer a couple of years later has not been easy, it has not stopped me!! I try to teach my kids to never quit and where there is a will, there is a way! Back-to-back battles with cancer might have temporarily crushed us financially, but I absolutely do not want this to stop my kids from playing the sport they love, sleep, and breathe!

Please give what you can, and know that I will pay it forward when I am at long last in a better position health-wise and financially!
