3 Nigerian Dwarf Goats Were Stolen and 1 Killed
Tax deductible
Barbara Taylor and her friend Mary Holland left town on February 18th to take a short trip. They returned on Monday, February 19th, and discovered that their three Nigerian Dwarf pet goats, Red, Blue, and Shep had been stolen. They alerted their neighbors, family, and friends, and someone later told them to check at a local convenience store.
Barbara drove to the store with a friend and found employees had killed one of their goats, Red, and were dressing him to eat him. His carcass was hanging on the back wooden fence and his head was found near the dumpster.
They discovered their second goat, Blue, was in a pen, with his back feet tied together. They were preparing to slaughter him as well. Fortunately, Barbara and her friend freed Blue and called the police.
After explaining to the police that Barbara was Blue's owner, they were allowed to take him home. Shep remains missing.
Barbara and Mary have filed complaints of theft and cruelty to numerous agencies, and the investigations remain active and open. To help ease the pain of losing two of their goats, the Humane Society of Louisiana is hoping to raise at least $700 to replace them. Barbara and Mary would like two male siblings.
We hope that the suspects will be charged accordingly and that we can gift Barbara and Mary with two new goats!
