Southeast Raleigh was once the location of Black Main Street.  A thriving, bustling community that was home to businesses, schools and banking. A safe place for children but now this same area is currently at a 24.2% poverty rate. Thats double the rate of the entire capitl city. Children are growing up in these communities observing violence poverty, and feeling a sense of hopelessness.

"We have to -- as people right here in the southeastern part of Raleigh, have to voice the changes that we want in out community. It's not enough just talking about it. We really have to put the ground work in and really move our feet to really get those changes going. " Deonica Sanders, Founder of 3 Stones Foundation explains.

Sanders decided to create 3 Stones Foundation and name her brother Daniel McCullers, nose tackle for the Chicago Bears as Executive Director of the Non Profit Organization. The mission is to promote initiatives to serve citizens of Southeast Raleigh and abroad . All ages including children, elders, and all races of people who are unable to help themselves. She hosted an outdoor movie night as a 3 Stones Foundation inaugural event.

"The kids were shocked and surprised because they had never seen anything like that in their community.  They did not know how to react. It was fulfilling to see their smiling faces experience and more creative atmosphere for them that day They want to thrive, the want to have more, but they dont necessarily feel like they deserve it " Sanders said..

It was Phyllis McCullers, Sanders' mother who inspired her to create 3 Stones Foundation. Her mother called Sanders and her siblings her 3 Stones she held us in her hand we were her virtue. There are 3 siblings Deonica, Daniel, and Dakita.

"She was such a giving and loving person, and i knew that I wanted to do something to make her proud. So she could see that I'm taking her strength and her sense of giving, and I'm putting it back out into the world. I know if she was here, that's what she would be doing. Sanders said.
