3 Strikes Film

Our Goal

As a low-budget student short film, we're aiming to raise $6,300 through GoFundMe to bring this project to life. Production will span three days in the Central Arkansas area, with funds supporting all stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. Currently, we are in pre-production, finalizing the script, securing locations, and casting talent. We’ve already filled key crew positions and are now casting lead roles. Fortunately, as a UCA student film, we have access to school-provided equipment, which significantly reduces our budget.

The Story

After moving to a small town, a disillusioned high school pitcher struggles to find his place on a baseball team overshadowed by tragedy. As he forges a bond with a quiet teammate, he confronts the harsh realities of grief, isolation, and the weight of lost dreams.

Directors Statement

This story means the world to me. Me and many of my friends have been plagued by the losses of our dear friends Drew Kilough, Drake Shaw, and Robby Bowers. This project gives me the chance to show an outsider's perspective on what helping friends through these losses and dealing with these losses myself actually felt like. Moments like losing my friends helped me realize how important men’s mental health really is and inspired me to make this film.

Character

Nathan Mulaney is a quiet, new kid struggling to fit in, using baseball as his only constant amidst a life of frequent moves.

Luke Warren is a reserved senior dealing with the grief of losing friends, forming an unexpected bond with Nathan as they both search for meaning.

Coach Williams is a stern, faith-driven coach trying to guide his players, but his strict approach often alienates them.

Jake and Brett are insensitive teammates whose crude behavior highlights the toxic environment Nathan must endure.
