30 Triathlons in 30 Days

From Feb 3 to Mar 3, 2020, Abe Oudshoorn is going all out!

He is completing 30 triathlons over 30 consecutive days to raise money for Atlohsa Family Healing Services in London, Ontario.

Atlohsa Family Healing Services is a multi-service non-profit organization that provides community members with Indigenous-led programming and services that offer healing, education, and housing. Services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, and resting spaces for people experiencing homelessness. Atlohsa is helping end Indigenous homelessness in London!

Why do it? Reconciliation is a responsibility of all Canadians, requiring commitment to action. We can all engage in reconciliation in many ways, one of which is to support the efforts of great organizations in our communities doing the day-to-day work of housing Indigenous people. This fundraising initiative is just one way of taking action.

How will he do it? Abe will complete the equivalent of 30 sprint distance triathlons in 30 days. This includes a 750m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run. These will be completed indoors at the YMCA Centre Branch (382 Waterloo St, London) using a pool, bike trainer, and treadmill. On most days the swim, bike and run will be completed in the morning from 6-8 on weekdays and 8-10 on weekends. This will accommodate Canadian weather and Abe’s work and family responsibilities.

Thanks to Denise Vandermeulen and Dave Zelibka of Elevate Physiotherapy  for supporting this initiative and keeping Abe healthy. Thanks to Jeff Schiller of Epic Sports Performance  for providing the bike coaching to make the effort manageable over 30 days.

Thank you all for your support!!
