What is this project all about?

The aequa Equity Library was created in the summer of 2020 to meet an unfulfilled need. A small group of readers, writers, book collectors, and activists came together and began to dream of a community resource that highlights marginalized writers and subjects connecting to the work of the aequa community – solidarity, mutual support, and social equity. Precisely the resources often missing from mainstream libraries.

We imagined a space not only to lend out books and zines but for people to connect to others when they want to, to exchange thoughts and ideas.

And in the spirit of Diana's quote, we'd like to expand the flavor palette of our library so that more people can find just the "chips" they're craving.

What is the project goal?

How will we use the money?

The funds raised by this crowdfunding campaign will be used to pay 31 new books:

+ transaction fees.

All books will be purchased at Trans*fabel and She Said - Bookshop.

This funding would not be used

In the event that we raise more money than is needed for these costs, we would donate them to the aequa CC, to be used to pay the monthly space rental.

What would we like to give back to you for your donation?

This fundraiser is not meant to be one-sided. As a thank you for your support, we invite you to stop by and borrow a book whenever you feel the need for new inspiration.

Who are the people behind the project?

We are aequa Community members that are part of the aequa Library Group and aequa Fundraising Working Group. We share the aequa values and a deep love for books.

Worum geht es bei diesem Projekt?

Die aequa Equity Library wurde im Sommer 2020 ins Leben gerufen, um einen unerfüllten Bedürfnis nachzukommen. Eine kleine Gruppe von Leser:innen, Schriftsteller:innen, Büchersammler:innen und Aktivist:innen kam zusammen und begann von einer gemeinschaftlichen Quelle zu träumen, die marginalisierte Schriftsteller:innen und Themen hervorhebt, die mit der Arbeit der aequa Community verbunden sind - Solidarität, gegenseitige Unterstützung und soziale Gerechtigkeit. Das sind genau die Ressourcen, die in den normalen Bibliotheken oft fehlen.

Wir stellten uns einen Raum vor, in dem nicht nur Bücher und Zines ausgeliehen werden können, sondern in dem die Menschen auch mit anderen in Kontakt treten können, wenn sie das möchten, um Gedanken und Ideen austauschen zu können.

Und im Sinne von Dianas Zitat möchten wir die Geschmackspalette unserer Bibliothek erweitern, damit mehr Menschen genau die "Chips" finden können, nach denen sie sich sehnen.

Die durch diese Crowdfunding-Kampagne gesammelten Gelder werden zur Finanzierung von 31 neuen Büchern verwendet:

Alle Bücher werden bei Trans*fabel und She Said - Bookshop gekauft.

Diese Finanzierung wird nicht verwendet

Sollten wir mehr Spenden sammeln, als wir für diese Kosten benötigen, werden wir diese an das aequa CC spenden, um damit die monatliche Raummiete zu bestreiten.

Was möchten wir euch für eure Spende zurückgeben?

Diese Spendenaktion soll nicht einseitig sein. Als Dankeschön für eure Unterstützung laden wir euch ein, bei uns vorbeizuschauen und ein Buch auszuleihen, wann immer ihr das Bedürfnis nach neuer Inspiration verspüren.
