Donate to Help Victor Summers

My name is Amanda Summers and I am the oldest child of Victor Summers. He's currently on full life support in the ICU at university hospital in London Ontario. He was racially profiled and turned away three times at Victoria hospital in St. Joseph's hospital in London Ontario, Canada. My father hasn't had to drop to drink in over 30 years and they accused him of being drunk and also accused him of being there just for drugs. They literally said to him "go home Mr. Summers. Take a Tylenol and drink lots of fluids and sleep off your hangover and you will feel better tomorrow."

A simple blood test would have proved that he was not drunk or high/drug-seeking and that he was indeed in medical distress.

Had the infection that caused the myocarditis been caught early enough, our father would not be on life support, and we would not be discussing these extremely difficult things. At the hospital not turned him away, they could have found that his white blood cell count was off and that he had an infection and was actually sick. All of this (my dad being on life support) was 100% preventable.

My father is currently on full life support suffering from an infection that went to his heart causing myocarditis. He is in a coma and they've told us that there's a very real possibility that he will not wake up. They said that even if he does wake up again because he went into cardiac arrest three times and went without oxygen for potentially up to 45 minutes... They are not sure whether he will have neurological deficits or not, and that at this point all they can do is make him comfortable and monitor him. My brothers and sisters and I are going to be meeting with a social worker on Wednesday (May 3rd, 2023) to talk about the next steps such as things like organ donation, and potentially, end of life care.

We need to raise money for things such as transportation to and from the hospital for all of his children (there are 8 of us) parking, plane tickets for our youngest brother (plus one support person so that he doesn't have to fly alone) who is currently living in Thunderbay, Ontario.

Lastly and most importantly, we need help with legal fees for a lawyer so that our father receives justice for what has happened to him and so that we can take steps to ensure that nothing like this happens to anybody else ever again.

Victor Summers is a very beloved father of 8 children, and over 20 grandchildren.

My brothers and sisters and I, need your help to get our youngest brother home and we need help with all of the things listed above.
