Gold Coast Drowning Victim

Hello everyone,

I am listing this GoFundMe request on behalf of the family of a victim of a tragic sudden accident.

It is with a heavy heart that we have come to lose a wonderful soul from this earth. Our dear friend, mother, sister, daughter and aunt, Sonya Sullivan has passed a month after her 51st birthday. This tragic loss has impacted us all so much in various ways. Sonya's life was cut short during a horrific and traumatic event on Sunday afternoon , 30th of April 2023 during an accident on the gold coast when she slipped on some rocks into the ocean and was caught in a rip being dragged and smashed back into the rocks and drowned. Her teen daughter jumped in to try and save her mother and her son was also injured but he ran to get help from someone. Unfortunately Sonya did not survive.

We all appreciate and respect the other persons at a nearby party who bravely jumped into the dangerous waters to save Sonya's young daughter, Tara, and although thier valiant efforts were unsuccessful in saving our dear Sonya, we love and appreciate the fact they were so brave and wonderful hero's that traumatizing day.

Sonya's elderly mother and youngest 2 brothers are housing her children in the family home, that Sonya was raised in for a portion of her youth, to keep them safe and in a loving environment with as much stability and structure as we can.

Regrettably due to the unforseen financial circumstances that we have now been hit with, we are requiring funding to help support Tara and Bailey in this transition, to financially support the kids, purchase their extra special dietary requirements, funeral costs for Sonya and medical expenses for the children.

We honestly appreciate any assistance anyone can give to help the children through this transitional period. We understand that not everyone can afford to pay towards these unprecedented, unexpected and unfortunate series of events that have transpired in front of Sonya's teen children over the weekend, and even if you cannot financially support the cause please share this so we can help ensure the devastated children can have a safe stable environment to function as well as they can. Every cent counts and is very much welcome.

The children do have special needs that we need to account for financially and structurally within the premises.

Important information about Sonya: Sonya struggled for many years trying to get pregnant before finally having her children who had always been her number one priority. Sonya always made sure to keep a safe and loving home for her children. She had some health complications which prevented her from having long term employment. She always made sure her kids had everything they needed and loved them more than anything, even Zumba and she loved her dancing.

The funding will be used in the following ways:

$10,000 - to go towards the funeral expenses for Sonya Sullivan and also to have a private gathering for friends and family to attend to celebrate her life.

$5000 - to go towards storage of the household items, and cleaning of the house.

The rest will go towards day to day expenses for the children and animals and if we have enough support after that, we would put the money into trust for the children to aide in future support they need.

Both of the kids are unlikely going to be able to live on thier own for quite some time, and we will need to expand the family home or sell this home and buy a bigger house to support the sudden growing number of people.
