Brooklyn Writers Space

We are the Brooklyn Writers Space, a quiet writing sanctuary founded in 2002 by Scott Adkins and Erin Courtney. We have been honored to provide spaces in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, and Gowanus that have nurtured creativity and fostered a vibrant writing community.

Sadly, the Brooklyn Writers Space will be closing on July 15, 2023. Our best efforts to sustain the operation with new members, increased fees, and outreach to our communities have failed. As we work towards winding down our operations, we are incurring costs associated with lease termination, equipment disposal, and repaying our EIDL SBA loan.

If you are able, we appreciate any donations to help alleviate some of the financial stress incurred by this closure. Any donations will be used to pay back our outstanding loan and fulfill the financial obligations associated with closing a business.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for being part of the Brooklyn Writers Space community for the last twenty years. Your creativity, talent, and passion have made our space truly special, and we are grateful for the memories and friendships that have been formed within our walls.
