Update from Jeannie June 2023
To everyone who has supported this fundraiser, I just want to say how grateful I am. Words cannot describe how overwhelmed I have been, not just in terms of the generosity, but also the sheer volume of people who want to help. I am genuinely touched by how much people have shown they care. While the financial support is such a practical welcome form of help, just knowing so many people are keeping Aidan in their thoughts and/ or prayers is so encouraging and appreciated at this incredibly difficult time.
Aidan is making small improvements, he is no longer in ICU and is currently on the waiting list for the National Rehabilitation Hospital where he will receive intensive rehab. Its still too early for the doctors to give a long term prognosis and it is unknown how long he will spend in rehab. For now, please keep Aidan in your thoughts and prayers, with all the love and positive energy pouring into him I'm sure he will find the strength he needs to recover. Thank you all so much xxxxx
Update on House / Builders Plan
A dear friend of Aidan's from Sycamore construction (Jono) and his colleague (Alan) have been so generous in stepping forward to first suggest this plan to finish Aidan and Jeannie's home but also now to manage the build. This was inspired by their experience of volunteering with RTE DIY SOS. They have the final plans from the architect now and there will be a trades day on 30th of June at 10am in Annamoe community centre. We would ask that any tradesmen available could pop in between 10am-3pm. If you cannot attend we will respond to all emails and include your help in the builders plan. Any help from tradesmen whether it be a couple of days or more will be really appreciated.
Go Fund Me Starting Point
Jeannie and Aidan who are childhood sweethearts have two young children and Jeannie is pregnant with their third child. On March 8th, Aidan a healthy, fit and determined young man was rushed to hospital with septic shock, was admitted to ICU and nearly lost his life. This all happened because of a small dog bite.
During this life threatening emergency, two weeks later Aidan had a bleed to the brain. He was rushed to Beaumount hospital for emergency life saving surgery. After this, he spent two weeks in an induced coma. Since coming out of the coma, his progress has been really slow. Aidan has not been able to regain full consciousness or physical movement. The medical professionals cannot be certain what his recovery pathway will look like, psychically or cognitively. Aidan will be in hospital or rehabilitation for at least 6 months or up to a year, the doctors cannot give certainty around this which is causing distress for his immediate family. Jeannie is travelling to the hospital seeing Aidan for over the past 2 months.
Over the last two years Aidan has built their house to the stage of roof and windows being fitted, laying the blocks solely by himself. The week before Aidan got critically ill, they were at the final stages of mortgage approval. Their family's life long dream to build their own home, was about to be fulfilled. Since this life threatening incident, Aidan cannot finish the house build and Jeannie cannot get mortgage approval on her own.
This go fund-me has been started to give Jeannie and her family the security needed for their future family home and so they have a place to support Aidan's recovery from Brain Injury.
Can everyone please share this go fund me to, friends and family and their employers or any businesses that may have a charitable fund.
Any tradesmen who are willing to volunteer some time for the house build please send an email and we will develop a timeline of works to be completed around volunteers available. Just hit message fundraiser and this will be sent to the email address we have set up.
All the funds raised will be used towards materials for the house build and volunteers will be relied on to do the labour.
The go-fund me will be updated regularly with Aidan's progress and the developments around finishing their house build.
A sincere thank you so much to everyone for coming together in our community to support Aidan and Jeannie during this tragic time.
