Support for Greg Stevens, Taylor Kaye & Family

Support for Greg Stevens

On September 26th, 2022, our good friend Taylor Kaye’s family suffered a catastrophic setback when their husband/dad Greg suffered a life changing stroke leaving him completely paralyzed on the left side and unresponsive.

A series of cascading bizarre events surrounding his initial treatment quickly escalated from the usual routine administration of a blood thinner for a clot to emergency surgery and removal of his skull to relieve pressure on his brain. Greg was in good physical health and even the news of his stroke shocked his doctor. He had no signs or symptoms until the morning of September 26th.

Greg survived but devastatingly, he will require 24-hour care for the foreseeable future. He remains paralyzed on the left side of his body and is currently nonverbal and unable to talk or write, however, the family is seeing some small improvements with physio and speech therapists.

Taylor has been adamant to not sharing any of these details publicly, namely, to shield their three girls from everything. Since that horrible weekend in September, Taylor has continued to trudge forward, carrying this massive weight alone, while putting on a brave face for the “social” world. We know, however, that she cannot possibly continue to do this alone while working countless jobs as the sole income provider in their family. Following many discussions with close friends, Taylor agreed that it’s finally time to let down the walls and accept some help.

The bottom line is this: Taylor and her 3 girls need our help. Greg needs our help. The Kaye family needs your help.

If you’ve loved and followed Taylor’s social media, you will see that in the last few months, they’ve been plagued with numerous home issues, namely flooding in their century old Toronto home. Then just this week, more water damage, and a leaking roof.

In Taylor’s words, “I don’t know what the lesson is here, but if someone is trying to take me down, they’re really trying hard. It’s too much.”

Taylor requires support in fixing their home so she can improve it to put in a wheelchair ramp, a chairlift, or anything to make it more accessible for Greg. Taylor needs support so that she can take a breath, and give the proper time needed to support her girls, so they all can heal. So, they can become strong and care for Greg and adjust to their new normal.

It’s not easy to ask for help, and it’s not easy when you’ve had to be the brave face of the family, so we are doing it for her. Whatever you are able to give is going to make a massive difference in their lives.

Beyond funds, if you are connected and know repair people, or home contractors, accessibility experts or restoration companies, please share this story and see if they might be willing to lend a helping hand. No donation is too small, we just want Taylor to truly know that they are not in this alone.

Thank you.
