On behalf of Ryan P. Gottsegen -

To our beloved friends and family. On Monday, November 22, 2021, the most unimaginable and unthinkable event that a family can conceive occurred when Ryan Gottsegen was found unresponsive having severe respiratory distress/failure in his home by his mother Alison Gottsegen and brother Brett Gottsegen. 911 was called and Ryan was immediately rushed to Milford Hospital where he was placed on life support. The very next day, Ryan was transferred to the Neuroscience ICU at Yale New Haven Hospital and remained on a ventilator. On December 2, a tracheostomy and peg (feeding tube) were placed. By Wednesday, December 8, Ryan was able to be weaned to a trach mask, but currently remains in a coma. Ryan sustained several bouts of pneumonia and continues to fight for his life.

Ryan is a special person that was born and raised in Milford, CT. He graduated from high school from Notre Dame of Fairfield in 1999, and from Manhattan College (BSCE) in 2003. Ryan is a bright, witty, caring, and sensitive person. He is a wonderful son to Alison and Michael, brother to Alexis, Shawn, and Brett, and Uncle to Zack, Taylar, Peyton, Hayden, and Teagan. Ryan loves his job at A.J. Penna where he is a Senior Project Manager (Civil Engineer). Anyone who has met Ryan even once would know how special he is as a person. His kindness and generosity of spirit is unmatched, and he would do anything for the people he encounters. Ryan is always the first in line to give to those in need, and now Ryan needs our support.

We are asking for donations to cover Ryan’s inevitable medical costs and to allow Ryan the time to focus on healing. Every contribution and prayer makes a huge difference.

Thank you friends and family for your support. Our gratitude cannot be overstated.
