July Update:
Hi all,
I am about one month into my full-time Master of Social and Sustainable Management program through Seattle Pacific University (link below for program info). It is inspiring, interesting, and I am deeply thankful and excited to be on this journey of growth and change.

I was fortunate enough to have unexpectedly received a scholarship through SPU, so I am now just trying to close a $3,000 funding gap that will help support a three-week study abroad trip to China and India that is a part of my Master's program.
At a glance:
COST -Tuition: $30,600 -Books, activities, course fees, etc: $1,800 -Study Abroad Trip: $6,500 TOTAL: $38,900 My Financial Plan: -Loans: $20,500 -Social Enterprise Scholar Award: $2,000 -Personal savings from working: $13,400 TOTAL: $35,900 Why GoFundMe? In a nutshell, if you know me, you probably know that I am very independent, at times stubborn, and I do not like to rely on other people for help. For months I have strategically budgeted to organize loans, a scholarship, my personal savings from working two jobs this past year, working this summer, and lining up a job that I will be starting in the fall during grad school, to finance the most exciting and engaging endeavor that I have pursued so far in my life. Seeing as I am still trying to complete my personal financial plan for the program, I thought that I would try crowd-funding as a humble avenue to help with this journey. Career Path I am the first person in my family to attend college. After graduating from the University of Washington in 2015, I began working at a Title One elementary school in Kent, as the Family Advocate for the school, working to provide extra resources and support for our families and students, including refugee families, families in transitional housing situations, and families who are English language learners. I also worked as a Spanish language interpreter for the district. At the same time, I began working as a site coordinator for the Century 21 after school program through Washington Alliance for Better Schools, working to coordinate and facilitate a program that provides extra academic support and structure for students at the same school. With a liberal arts undergraduate degree and a business Master's, I aim to have the business knowledge to work for nonprofits with tangible skills and strategies for creating socially- sustainable systems and solutions for addressing the issues about which I am passionate. The study abroad opportunity will allow me to travel through India and China for three weeks in November and early December with my cohort and professors, studying emerging economies as contexts for responsible and sustainable social business. Thank you I grew up in a small town, moved to the city for college, was lucky to have travelled and seen a few different parts of the world, and am aching to see more of it. Since I was young I have been fueled by a passion to help the lives of others, and I am truly grateful for the support of others in allowing me to have amazing opportunities personally and professionally to do so. I am very lucky and thankful for this journey and the surrounding support. Thank you for reading, for considering, and for sharing!
