32yo Heart Attack-Cardiac Arrest Survivor
Donation protected
As the family of Brandon we are creating this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden of all his medical bills. On January 3rd Brandon suffered a *severe* heart attack, often commonly referred to as the “Widowmaker”. Brandon immediately went into cardiac arrest after this, necessitating his mother, who was with him, to pull over on the side of the road and immediately start CPR. Medics would arrive on scene soon after and defibrillate him. Brandon was then transported to the local hospital, and then subsequently rapidly to another. During this transfer Brandon would code several more times as well. In total he was defibrillated no less than 7 times. Upon arriving at this hospital he was immediately taken to the CathLab and worked on. As for the family, we were hastily approached by the doctor and Chaplain. The doctor explained the severity of the situation and, reading between the lines, we understood there was a very slim chance of any good news coming our way soon. Brandon then spent the next 2 days in the Critical Care Unit, under heavy sedatives, and on a ventilator.
Miraculously, through nothing short of divine intervention, Brandon made it through all this and is here with us today. He is fully awake and talking. At the time of this writing, Brandon has just recently stood up and taken his first steps since all of this happened.
To speak on Brandon for a bit: Brandon has spent his entire career in public service. At 14 he volunteered at the local fire department and stayed there for many years. After this he moved on to being an EMT, where he spent well over a decade helping the members of his community. Brandon has devoted his professional career to being in service of others. Privately, not much changes. With a heart of gold Brandon always finds a way to help those he loves. Friends and family alike, they know they can always depend on Brandon to lend a helping hand.
Any and all funds raised will be used to cover the expenses of this event. Two ambulance rides, and 5+ days hospitalized. Brandon has a long road of recovery ahead and just simply will not be physically fit enough to work.
