Update: 3/27 from Lauren: Yesterday, I had my second treatment. So far, my neuropathy is only slightly elevated and I have just a touch of nausea.

I’ll be darn if Sara Bareilles’ Fight Song didn’t come on the radio Monday afternoon. I thought I was gonna bawl while driving through downtown Hartselle. But I didn’t, and one line in particular stood out to me, “I still got a lotta fight left in me.”

I very much do. I had literally just told the nurse practitioner not even an hour prior, “I don’t want years. I want decades.”

Come hell or high water, I’m going to see my dream home built, and enjoy it for many years to come. I’m going to see all of my boys graduate high school. I’m going to see them get married, if any of them want to.

I do still have a lotta fight left in me.

Dear friends, family & compassionate souls,

At 37 years of age, you never expect to hear a diagnosis of colon cancer. But that's what happened to Lauren Holt, a young wife and mom in our family. Lauren went to the doctor for back pain that just wasn't getting better, to learn she has a tumor in her spine and also tumors in her lungs that have spread from colon cancer.

Lauren went in for surgery to remove a large tumor in her colon recently only to be thrown another curveball when they discovered the tumor has metastasized to her uterus and pancreas.

Lauren is wife to Alex and mom to three boys. Lauren is not only a courageous fighter but also a sweet, kind, and beautiful soul who dreams of a future filled with hope and possibilities. Due to her health condition and work limitations, she faces financial strain as she navigates through this challenging multi-phase journey.

This is where the financial hurdle begins. Every doctor visit for each specialty area, every test, every scan, every treatment results in significant out of pocket co-pays and expenses. Currently approaching $1,000 a week (before treatments begin) out of pocket just in medical expenses. You can also see the snowball effect to their personal expenses with her being out of work and not able to provide income.

We also ask for prayers of healing and a sound course of action from Lauren's doctors that gives alleviates her pain and puts her on a course of action that will eliminate these tumors from her body.

Every donation, no matter the amount, brings Lauren one step closer to her dream of overcoming cancer and continuing her future filled with joy and love. Please join us in supporting Lauren on this difficult path and contribute to her GoFundMe campaign.

Your kindness and generosity will make a significant impact on Lauren's life, providing her with the strength and resources she needs to face the unknown challenges that lie ahead. Thank you for your compassion and support.
