33-year-old single Mom battles stomach cancer

Imagine you wake up every single day with intense stomach pains. You’ve gone to the doctors and they have said you have ulcers, but they want to run tests. For three weeks, you are prescribed to eat a bland diet of easily digestible food, which mainly consists of mashed potatoes. Suddenly, you’re called in—the tests came back and some polyps were found on your stomach that came back malignant. All you can think is… I’ve got cancer.
This is the story of Amanda Murray. After a long summer of intense abdominal pain, she finally had a long medical term to go with it—gastric adenocarcinoma… a.k.a. Stomach cancer.
At 33 years old, Amanda has to break the terrifying news to her 10-year-old and 12-year-old sons, and to her family 600 miles away.
The plan laid out by her doctor is 4 weeks of oral chemotherapy, followed by a rest period of 2-3 weeks, then surgery to try and stop the cancer cells from spreading to her lymph nodes.
Amanda has faced several challenges in her life, including a premature baby born 15 weeks early (and he survived). She has always overcome. She will fight this too. But, she can’t fight it on her own. The physical side effects are just one challenge in her near future. As with all unforeseen medical emergencies, Amanda is facing a financial challenge as well.
Her main concern now is just getting enough financial support to start the oral chemotherapy.
Amanda Murray is my older sister, and she told me today (Thursday) that she needs $2500.00 to start her chemotherapy by Monday. I told her that nothing is impossible.
Amanda and I agreed that for every $50.00 donated to help her, we would send a homemade cap to crochetforcancer.org to give back to others who are also fighting their own personal battles with cancer.
Aside from financial warriors to join her team, Amanda is in need of Prayer Warriors during this battle too. Please pray for healing, a positive attitude, and mental strength.
Please join Amanda’s team and help her fight and overcome her cancer and send 50 handmade caps to other cancer patients.
