34 miles in 24 hours for Starlight
Three life long friends running in aid of a fantastic charity that helps children suffering with serious and terminal illness and supports their families come to terms with their challenging circumstances.
An idea conceived after one of us recently received the miracle gift of a new born son. Sitting in the hospital realising how lucky we are to bring a happy and healthy child into the world has inspired us to help those less fortunate by raising vital funds to assist the Starlight charity to continue the fantastic work that they deliver to our communities every day.
Together Alex, Darren & John will attempt to run34 miles in 24 hours. In an unconventional test of stamina and mental resilience, the trio will complete 24 laps of a 1.36 mile circuit, running every hour on the hour for a full day and night.
We would love for you to support us with your well wishes and importantly your donations as we are looking to raise £1500 that will help to bring some Christmas cheer to the children who deserve it the most. Thanks and see you at the finish line x
About Starlight
When children face life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, Starlight find ways to help them have better days.
The memory of a childhood illness can impact for life. Starlight aim to help to make it a little bit more interesting, so that they may not have such awful association with their illness or experience.
Serious illness can take away so many things that are precious about childhood. When children are diagnosed with a life-threatening or life-shortening illness, Starlight grant personalised wishes to bring back the fun and magic of childhood that medical treatment may have taken away. Starlight have helped children to meet an astronaut, become a princess, ride in a lifeboat and plenty more. Throughout lockdown Starlight Wishes have been providing some immediate comfort and relief to children in isolation, from hot tubs for children who no longer have access to hydrotherapy classes, to bedroom makeovers that make home confinement more fun.
Help us grant our promised wishes for seriously ill children.
