2022 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships
Donation protected
Hello :) I’m looking to fundraise for my son, Louie. He has been given the privilege of representing Wales in the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in November 2022 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Louie started going to the gym whilst at university (studying Strength, conditioning, rehabilitation and massage), where he found the sport of powerlifting, and it quickly became a significant and important part of his life. He will not only travel to compete but will also be part of the coaching team, assisting others using the knowledge gained from his degree and experience gained whilst supporting other members of the powerlifting community at their own competitions.
Like many sports, Welsh Powerlifting has no funding. This means that Louie will be self-funding the opportunity to coach and compete at the event. He is currently doing this by taking time out from study to work before returning to complete a Masters in strength and conditioning that will allow him to continue coaching others within this area across a range of sports.
The fundraising will support various costs such as travel, accommodation, kit, entry fees etc. As part of being allowed to set up this ‘Go Fund Me’ on behalf of Louie, he wanted to take the opportunity to help others as well. Therefore, 25% of the money raised will be donated to CALM (Campaign against living miserably), who look to challenge stereotypes and the stigma around mental health in order to prevent suicide.
Thank you for taking the time to read and if you’ve donated, thank you again!
