Help Send Nariah to Worlds!
Hi all!
My name is Nariah-Belle. I am a junior at Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington and I have recently been selected to be one of the 24 female athletes across the country to represent USA at the U20 Junior World Ultimate Championships.
I started playing Ultimate at Aki Kurose Middle School in the spring of my 6th grade. I did not know back then how much of an impact Ultimate would have on my life. I can truthfully say I would not be the same person I am today without it. The values that ultimate has as a sport are like no other, and it was ultimately the community and the friends that I made along the way that got me sold. I have been playing ever since then, and I am now in my 6th year of playing Ultimate.
Ever since I was a freshman at Lakeside I dreamed of one day having the opportunity to be a part of Team USA and represent my country in the sport that I love.
I was fortunate to be able to play for the club team Fryz for my freshman and sophomore years, to be captain of the Seattle YCC mixed team, and play on the girls team this most recent summer as well. I know it's cliché, but, I couldn't have gotten to this point without all of my temmates, coaches, and everyone I have played against. All of them have pushed me to be a better player and I am very thankful for all of their help.
Although I am overjoyed about being selected for the team, the cost is a huge barrier for me. This years World Junior Ultimate Championships will be held in Wroclaw, Poland and the cost will be about $3500 with all expenses accounted for. Sadly, because I am 17 and still in highschool, I can not get paid by coaching at any of my local youth camps to help pay for my expenses. Even though I couldn't get paid, I did help coach the Lakeside boys highschool team to win the state title in Washington this year. Any support, or donation, big or small, will help me out immensely.
