Help Nikki rebuild her home - flood relief
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Kiah and my sister Nikki has just recently moved to Woodburn and now lost her house and her belongings to the floods.
My sister, our mum, my 2 nephews and our family 3 doggo's have been sleeping in a preschool in Woodburn and then transported by boat to a school holiday camp in Evans Head as waters are still too high to return to the house or even leave the area. I would like to tell you her story so that you can help with a donation to help her rebuild her life.
Nikki had recently sold her house in Sydney and relocated to Woodburn to have a fresh start with her 2 boys. It had been very stressful for her with selling, moving and trying to sell/relocate her pool cleaning business. It took months of emotional stress of having to uproot her life and relocate and she finally started to feel some sense of peace after a hard year. This has honestly just been the worst time for her for mother nature to come through and destroy what she had just began to build and move towards. What should be a time of light at the end of the tunnel - building foundations of peace and stability, has just been turned upside down. It's extremely unfortunate and the timing could not be worse for her.
Unfortunately my sister had house insurance but did not have flood insurance as she had literally just moved in and flood waters had never got that high. The house was built for floods on the bottom level however flood waters got so high that it exceeded the last flood record (4.7m in 1954) by 2.5 metres. They had managed to move everything from downstairs to upstairs however, unfortunately the water went 3 feet into the top story rendering the majority of things to be thrown away.
My sister had just spent the last few months hauling all of her stuff to Woodburn and literally got her last load into the house last week just before the floods had hit. She spent thousands on moving and had just bought new mattresses and furniture. I feel so sad for my sister that she had just spent everything to start her new lease at life to find peace and happiness, finally moved all of her belongings and now everything has been ripped away.
My sister honestly is the FIRST person who helps others when they are down and out and in need. She is always helping out and lending a hand and now is the time for us to help her. She was making sandwiches for the flood victims at the preschool in Woodburn and even used the last of the pool chemicals that were in her car to service the pool so that they could at least jump in to have a wash. Her selflessness is even there when she has nothing and she continues to smile even after being hit so hard and losing everything.
If you could help her get back on her feet for her and her 2 boys, I know how grateful she would feel. She gives so much to everyone else and now is the time for us to give back to her. I have seen the amount of comments, thoughts, love and support she is getting from her friends on her Facebook so I wanted to set this Go Fund Me up so that we can start donating and helping her to get her life back on track. Many thanks and love, Nikki's sister, Kiah ❤️
UPDATE
After returning to the house:
The whole downstairs has been gutted and the top will need to be rebuilt. They have cut the gyprock out from a height of 600mm so the whole lot doesn't need to be replaced, just from that height.
If you want to help with donations, what my sister really needs is money to help rebuild her home. After getting back to the house and assessing, she will need a new kitchen, cupboards, skirting, wiring and appliances.
