ISVolunteer Trip to the Dominican!

I will be volunteering in the Dominican Republic this summer with International Student Volunteers (ISV).  It is a five week trip including: a one week long spanish language and cultural immersion program, two week volunteer program, and a two week long adventure tour. Overall the trip will cost me approximately $5,000, but I am hoping to raise $3,500 which will cover the spanish immersion program, volunteer program, and part of my plane ticket.  Within the two programs the money will take care of my accommodations, most meals, volunteer project materials and support, ground transportation, and project and tour guidance and support. 

During the spanish immersion part I will be living with a host family, taking spanish classes, and exploring the Dominican. As for the  volunteer portion, I will be working on various community development projects, Past ISV volunteers have worked with children in orphanages and rescue centers; built schools, medical facilities and community gardens; and more. Finally my last two weeks will be spent celebrating our volunteer work by white water rafting, surfing, caving, and visiting markets around the country during the adventure tour.
