About the Park
Backyard Terrors Dinosaur Park is a donation based attraction. We believe everyone has the right to experience the magic of seeing life size dinosaurs! We only continue and grow through patron support. Three years ago Chris Kastner came up with the concept of a dinosaur park that could educate and entertain kids of all ages, operating only on donations. Chris, an artist, donates all of his time and skill to bring this place alive, along with help from a few generous friends. Funds are collected only for materials needed to aid in expanding the Park and creating new exhibits. A Fossil Dig Site and Gift Shop/Visitor area have been developed solely with support from visitors, sponsors and patrons!

We've kept things fairly quiet about a situation we have been dealing with. We had some issues during our Trick or Treat with the Dinosaurs event, which around 3200 people attended. The impact of this high attendance led to an inspection by the Sullivan County Planning and Codes Dept. They claim that they have been and are still receiving complaints about us. This has led us to file for a Special Use permit for which approval will be decided next Wednesday. Our goals here have always been to provide an inexpensive and fun place to visit with your whole family. We really hope to be able to continue to do that.

Well we came back from the meeting with good news and bad news. Good news first, eh? The Park will remain open at least for the next six months. Bad news. We will have to halt all special events until that time period is over. Good news. We can get them reinstated provided we get some upgrades to the Park here. Bad news. These upgrades will be a bit of work and a little costly. One requirement is a dedicated restroom for Park use to replace the portable toilet we've been renting from Blountville Septic. The other requirement is a better dedicated parking area. We are going to be finding out specifics in the following days and I will post them here as we do. We will be asking for donations to help with these projects. Time and/or money would really help us. If you know anyone who might be able to assist, please point them our way. June 2016
We had another meeting with the Sullivan County, BZA. Their decesion, thanks to a friend of the Park's suggestion, was to allow us another year to get things done on our list.
March 2017
With our new June deadline looming we have completed much of it thanks to your general contributions! All we have left is the site plan that we need a surveyor for and completing the restrooms we were asked to create.
We are needing 2,000+ for the site plan and the restroom has been estimated at 10,000+ .
Attached is a copy of the paperwork we were given that lays out the guidelines we must follow. Any and all help is appreciated. You are receiving this because you have helped us in the past and I consider you a friend of the Park. Please feel free to share with anyone who might be able to assist us.
