Brandon's medical bill

Hi everyone,

My name is April Mortrud and I started this gofundme fundraiser in honor of my husband Brandon Mortrud.

On Friday, December 9th, my husband and I were out shoveling and snow-blowing our driveway when a medical emergency occurred! We were more than a couple of hours into snow removal when we were finally finished and relieved due to mental and physical exhaustion when all of a sudden I hear out of nowhere as I'm entering the garage to put all the shovels away after just hearing the snowblower turn off. My husband who was in physical shock quietly spoke "Well, that's not good". I knew instantly when I was in the garage that something was wrong and that's when I ran outside and saw blood all over the snow surrounding my poor husband. He was in full winter gear and I remember reminding myself over and over to just stay as calm and collected as possible. After getting inside and getting all of his gear off is when we knew it was time to face reality and go get help now! My husband was trying to remove ice from the snow blower while it was still running and it sucked his hand into the snow shout. He husband almost lost all or half of his middle finger on his right hand! While driving my husband to the emergency room and trying to verbally set up health insurance over the phone and ten plus emergency/follow-up/post-op appointments we were still left with a very large medical bill in hand that, of course, we weren't expecting! My husband and I spoke about the bill repeatedly and I mentioned a gofundme for assistance and he was very hesitant. I am taking on this task solo in hopes that you all will read our story and be able to provide a little financial security to us during this difficult time!
