Dear Beloved Community,

In the heart of creativity and resilience resides our dear friend, Destanne, the visionary owner of Moss Grey Atelier. For years, Destanne has been the driving force behind this haven of artistry here in the Comox Valley, pouring her passion into every creation that graces her atelier. Today, her focus is taken away from her passion and is rather on an unforeseen and formidable challenge—breast cancer.

Destanne was diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) breast cancer this summer and underwent surgery shortly after to remove the 4cm tumour in her left breast. Unfortunately the tumour grew too close to her chest wall and the surgeon was unable to excise all the cancer cells, therefore requiring more extensive treatment.

Destanne and her dedicated partner in life and business, Jesse, are long standing compassionate and supportive members of our community who have always been generous with their spirit and strength. As she and Jesse navigate the commitments and focus needed for her medical treatments, the weight of mounting expenses and the prospect of extended business closures over the holidays cast a shadow over her journey to recovery.

We are reaching out to you, our compassionate community, to join in the support of Destanne during this challenging time. Our collective goal is to provide her with the space and peace of mind she needs to focus on healing without the constant worry of her beloved Moss Grey Atelier.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will directly and immediately contribute to covering Destanne's growing medical and travel costs, as she gets ready to do extensive radiation treatment in Victoria. After the acute treatment phase, Destanne will need support with the expensive specialists that are necessary for long term health like Naturopathy, Mycofascial Massage and Acupuncture. Moreover, if needed a portion of the proceeds will be allocated to sustaining Moss Grey Atelier through the challenging period of business closures, preserving the essence of Destanne's creative legacy.
