Help Secure Opportunities for Chicago Grower

Hello,
Due to privacy issues, we cannot name our most beloved farmer, who effortlessly and abundantly has contributed to Chicago’s local food system. For years they have worked to provide black and brown communities on the south/southwest side of Chicago with fresh organic produce, workshops, and a space for QBIPOC community. At their core they are a community organizer.
Now it’s our time to support them.
Our beloved farmer needs community help to support their journey to residency. By raising $8,000 will go to kick starting this long awaited journey by making it possible for them to apply for residency in hopes of one day being eligible for citizenship . This includes payments for documentation, travel expenses and for the red tape imposed by this system.
Their dedication to the community has led them to being nominated for numerous job positions yet because of their status these opportunities have been revoked. This has affected their ability to meet their fundamental needs from physical care to providing for their family; it has even led to them contemplating the longevity of our communal farm; a space that has fed so many souls, and hopes.
We thank you in advance for your support while we maintain this person’s identity private until their immigration status gets resolved.
