Staceys couch to 10k
My name is Stacey and as many of you who know me, know that my twin boys decided to make their entrance into the world 14 weeks early, they were born at just 26+3 weeks on the 29th July 2023
It was one of the scariest times in our lives, not knowing whether the boys would survive. When they were born they weighed a tiny 2lb 4 and 2lb 5, they were immediately placed into thermal plastic bags, initially they tried to take their first breaths but unfortunately they both had to be resuscitated and ventilated and whisked off to the Oliver Fisher Neonatal Unit where we proceeded to spend 11 long weeks under their care.
Whilst we were there we learned SO much about the oliver fisher charity and whilst the unit has its NHS funding (rightly so) the charity tops up the funding from fundraisers and events to allow all the babies on the unit to have access to some of the best medical equipment out there that makes things that little bit easier for the tiny humans sadly having a rougher start to life than others. Not only does the charity provide such medical equipment they also provide comforts for the parents of the sick babies, from purchasing comfy recliners for every single incubator to having fridges stocked with food for the parents who just cant leave their babies to providing nappies and clothes to the babies and whilst that may not seem like a lot unfortunately one of our boys had to be transferred to a different hospital for a few weeks due to needing in-depth investigations where such comforts were unable to be provided due to lack of funding.
Oliver fisher go above and beyond to give the best to the tiny humans fighting for their lives and to the families who can only stand by and watch. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for our boys and there is nothing I can do in this world to come close to repaying them for savings my babies lives, however I am going to do my best in raising as much money as I can so future residents are able to have the best care and equipment available to them, which is why I have decided to take part in running the Oliver Fisher 10k next May. Those of you who know me know I am not a runner, the most amount of running I have possibly done is chasing the ice cream van! But it’s a start so please join me in making a difference.
I'm raising money in aid of THE OLIVER FISHER SPECIAL CARE BABY TRUST and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution no matter how much to this cause that means so much to me and my family our boys would not be here today if it wasn't for them.
This ones for you Eddie & Ernie my little fighters x
