Diesels Emergency Surgery

Hello! This adorable boy is Diesel. The short story is he’s been at Tufts in North Grafton with their neurology team since rushing him there the night after Thanksgiving. Diesel had to undergo surgery. They are taking amazing care of him but this was incredibly unexpected and astronomically expensive. I am not a person who asks for this kind of help but for him I will. Please, I am asking anyone and everyone to please share this far and wide and help with any amount they can.

Backstory: A month ago I got home from work one night and Diesel didn’t seem himself. We took a ride out to VESH in South Deerfield and they quickly checked his vitals and advised me that he seemed to have injured his back. It was 4am and they were heading into a critical case so they sent us on our way with instructions to see his vet in a few hours when they opened. Second Chance was able to get him in early the next day and did some blood work and testing and his vet prescribed some pain meds and rest which initially seemed helpful but within a few days we were back again. This time they took X-rays to get a look at his spine and rule out any herniated discs which they said they did not see and added on another pain med and advice to consult with a neurologist if symptoms persisted. While waiting for a neurology appointment Diesel took a turn for the worse and had to be rushed to Tufts where they stabilized him and did an MRI to assess his condition. On Monday they were able to proceed with surgery and successfully removed a disc extrusion near the nerve root. The hospital staff says Diesel has been an excellent patient and is recovering well! We have a long road ahead but he is ready to come home!! Thank you for reading this and thank you for helping our boy ❤️❤️
