Help Fund Ticked: A New Podcast Investigating Tick-Borne Diseases and Climate Change
After 100+ episodes and tens of thousands of downloads, the award-winning Outdoor Minimalist podcast continues to grow, bringing important environmental topics to outdoor enthusiasts and beyond. In 2024, we launched the Forever Chemicals podcast, a 10-part investigative series on the dangers of PFAS chemicals. It became the #1 chemistry podcast in the U.S. and a top science podcast for over six weeks, reaching tens of thousands of listeners.
Now, we’re expanding again with Ticked, a new 10-part series uncovering the alarming rise of tick-borne illnesses and their connection to climate change.
Why this? Why now?
Tick-borne diseases like Lyme disease have doubled in the last two decades, with cases reaching nearly 479,000 per year in the U.S. alone. As the climate warms, ticks are expanding into new regions, creating serious health risks for outdoor enthusiasts, pet owners, and entire communities. Yet, awareness remains low, misdiagnosis is rampant, and the outdoor industry has barely scratched the surface of this growing issue.
In Ticked, we’ll look into the science behind these diseases, the role climate change plays in their spread, and the impact on public health, outdoor recreation, and even the pet industry. Through expert interviews and real stories, we’ll provide actionable insights on prevention, treatment, and adapting to this evolving threat.
